The Right Kind Of Meat

Be it for your simple dishes or for your gourmet dishes, the right kind of meat will make all the difference in the world – including the taste, the texture, and the overall quality of your dish.

With that, here are some tips when finding the right kind of meat for your culinary needs:

It should be cut and bought according to purpose.

While most people think buying meat is easy as 1, 2, and 3, it’s not always the case. For one, every meat out there serves an explicit purpose. Take for example: you’re planning to cook a rib-eyed steak for dinner. The right kind of meat would be one with ribs rather than one without ribs. Here’s another example: you can always use another meat type if the original type is either out of stock or out of budget. However, it won’t have the same taste and the same texture as with the right kind of meat.

It should be firm and red.

The right kind of meat, especially when it comes to beef, should be firm and reddish – signs that it’s freshly cut from the animal and not cut from weeks back or even for the second time around. It should also come with yellow fat, as well as odorless and greaseless. Otherwise, it would express signs of decaying like a foul odor and a greasy texture or even signs of artificial ones like having an unusually bright color.

It should be grinded moderately.

Ground beef should be grinded moderately or better yet, in front of you. And by moderately, it means seeing the grinded pieces firm and intact – and not like it’s grinded by drills (except for those drills found in reviews of cordless drills online, which are great drills to use – especially in woodworking projects) or even pounded by hammers like there’s no tomorrow. Even more so, it should be reddish in color – not pale-looking like ground pork.

As mentioned before, the right kind of meat will make all the difference in the world – including the taste, the texture, and the overall quality of your dish; hence, the importance of knowing how to find the right kind of meat for your culinary needs.
